Cult of the Harmonic Oscillation is the fifth album of Bogdo Ula, a Finnish trio, guitar (Samuli Kristian), drums (Ivan Horder) and bass (Jean Ruin). On this album Bogdo Ula's experimental journeys continue. All material was recorded live in five intensive days in the countryside of Finland.
Every track is freely improvised, as usual. Additional sound effects were created by bassist Jean Ruin with an old bicycle and beat-boxes. He used also a looping device on bass guitar creating a sense of repetitive rhythm. However, drummer Ivan Horder avoids to play anything that resembles a steady groove. Samuli Kristian's guitar flies on top of these psychedelic and angular rhythms. The title track Cult of the Harmonic Oscillation has a different approach here having a steady rhythm.
Bogdo Ula uses free improvisation as a tool to express and convey emotion through music. To let the music flow, to reach a total freedom of expression, and to communicate with one who wants to listen.
